DRUG USE:

Michael Stewart Smith, 31, of 330 Merrill Road in San Juan Bautista, was arrested by San Benito County Sheriff’s deputies for the use of a controlled stimulant, a misdemeanor and violation of probation, a felony, during a warrant arrest at Smith’s home on Friday at 11:45am, police said.

DRUG POSSESSION:

Israel Gabriel Gutierrez, 37, of 6562 Fairview Road in Hollister, was arrested by San Benito County Sheriff’s deputies for possession of 1.89 grams of methamphetamine and violation of parole, both felonies, during a traffic stop at the intersection of Fairview Road and Lone Tree Road on Friday at 8:40pm, police said.

BATTERY:

Yanida Bertha Perez, 36, of the 100 block of Plumtree Drive in Hollister, was arrested by police for vandalism, a felony, and battery, a misdemeanor, during a custody dispute call in the 100 block of Plumtree Drive on Sunday at 1:13am, police said. Perez had used a piece of wood to hit a vehicle, police said.

Driving Under the Influence:

n Julio Cesar Vargas, 23, of the 1300 block of Palmera Avenue in Salinas, was arrested by the California Highway Patrol for driving under the influence, a misdemeanor, after a traffic accident south of the Cole exit on southbound Highway 101 on Sunday at 2:26pm, the CHP said.

Manuel Rodriguez, 31, of the 400 block of Paul Drive in Hollister, was arrested by the California Highway Patrol for driving under the influence, a misdemeanor, and driving without a license, a misdemeanor, during a routine traffic stop on San Benito Street north of Hawkins Street on Sunday at 11:05pm, the CHP said.

Robert Mendoza Celaya, 36, of Dewey City, Calif., was arrested by police for a domestic dispute, a felony, and driving under the influence, a misdemeanor, during a traffic stop at the intersection of Peartree Lane and Live Oak Drive on Saturday at 9:42pm, police said. Celaya had left the residence of the domestic dispute in the 100 block of Plumtree Drive in a vehicle and was later arrested by officers, police said.

All those named are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
