Hollister Police Chief David Westrick on Saturday morning reported there were no major incidents at the biker rally on opening day.
Friday was the first of three days for the Hollister Freedom Rally. Saturday is typically the busiest day of the three for the event drawing tens of thousands of bikers.
Westrick in a text to the Free Lance responded there were “zero” major incidents on the first day of the rally and that it “went well.”
This year, police agencies are taking extra precaution in light of the deadly May shootings in Waco, Texas, along with the non-fatal shooting at a Chevron gas station outside the event area during last year’s Hollister rally over the July 4 weekend.
