Police watch over the Hollister Freedom Rally on Sunday.

Although police officials don’t quite have official crime statistics compiled for the biker rally weekend, the chief said criminal activity was down at the 2015 event ending Sunday.
Hollister Police Chief David Westrick said there has been a gradual decrease in overall crime from 2013 to 2015.
Westrick pointed out there were no incidents in the rally area after midnight Friday or Saturday of this year’s event and he said the most serious rally-related arrest was a driving under the influence alleged against a motorcyclist the chief called “completely drunk.”
He said there were no violent crimes reported in the rally area, and activity outside the event area was akin to a normal weekend.
“There’s just nothing to report as far as any kind of incidences,” Westrick said.
He said bikers were more gracious than usual toward police as well and that the visitors expressed appreciation for local hospitality.
“We had bikers coming up to us, doing the fist bump and saying thanks,” Westrick said, “and they had a great time.”
Police were happy with the event in light of last year’s shooting at a Chevron gas station, on the outskirts of Hollister, the third and final day of the biker rally. The event also came about two months after the deadly shootings in Waco, Texas, among biker clubs.
