Hollister Police and state authorities seized a 5-foot alligator from a local home last week after executing a search warrant.
The Hollister Police Department posted on its Facebook page April 18 that the warrant was acquired on suspicion of possession of a restricted species at the residence. The search was conducted with the assistance of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and the United Narcotics Enforcement Team.
During the search, authorities found the alligator, a ferret and a small indoor marijuana growing operation, according to the Facebook post. “The animals were seized to be taken to a properly permitted facility and (marijuana) plants (were) taken as evidence,” the post reads.
The suspect, who is not named in the Facebook post, was not at home at the time of the search, police said. The social media post does not say on which street the home is located.
Hollister police did not return a phone call requesting more details.
