Hollister – The Hollister Police Department is investigating the shooting of a vehicle in the 100 block of Vine Street in Hollister on Saturday night.

Approximately four shots were fired at an unoccupied 2001 Chevy pickup parked on Vine Street in front of the victim’s residence just before midnight, said Officer Rosie Betanio, a spokesperson for the police department.

No one was injured in the incident, Betanio said. Officers have no suspects and although witnesses are cooperating, their information has not provided police with adequate leads on any suspects.

“Not too many witnesses saw much of anything,” Betanio said. “Just shots were heard.”

Police are not sure if the incident is gang-related, Betanio said. The shooting is the second this month, following an early October shooting, just four blocks north of Saturday’s shooting, on Haydon Street. No one was injured in the Haydon Street shooting either, but police believe what began as a fight and escalated into a shooting was gang-related. The Norteño and Sureño street gangs were involved in the Haydon Street shooting, police said.

Police encourage anyone with more information to step forward and contact the Hollister Police Department at 831-636-4330.
