If you have been downtown lately since the series of showers in the area, you might notice that patches of weeds are cropping up within an array of tree grates on the sidewalks.

Some have more or less than others – notice the bushel of weeds in this week’s Public Works photo, for instance – while there are several along San Benito Street that have grown noticeably long.

The Pinnacle passed on the issue to the Hollister Public Works Department. The Streets Division within the department is responsible for street and sidewalk maintenance, including patching, striping and signage. It is also responsible for street sweeping and storm drain maintenance, according to the city Web site.

For information, complaints, or to report problems, call the City of Hollister Public Works Department’s Operations and Maintenance Section at 636-4370.
