Editor,

I want to sincerely thank the City Council for their appointment of Clint Quilter as our new city manager. I have waited for this for a long time. I suspected he would be our leader some day because he has qualities that I have admired for years. Because my mother, who I look up to, had great integrity, I am able to recognize it in other folks. Clint has always been in that group. Another thing that impresses me about Clint is his ability to see more than one side on an issue. He is open for suggestions and seriously considers them. He is patient and will take the time to educate someone, and he makes you feel comfortable while he is explaining something. I solicit his opinion, periodically, both as an administrator and friend and find him pleasant to be around. With his appointment, you have given me new hope that will succeed in turning around our city.

I also want to thank the Redevelopment Agency and all the taxpayers for the many improvements that have been completed and future improvements that are planned. The downtown is beautiful and since I live downtown I am very appreciative of Redevelopment’s efforts and to show my appreciation I water our new tree and keep the sidewalk clean. Also the new sidewalks in the residential areas around the older part of town are great. They really spruced up around local schools and I know that Sacred Heart School is very happy with their new street and sidewalk. The Portuguese Hall looks great with their own private improvements and the new city sidewalk. This is what the Redevelopment Agency can do for us as a city and I look forward to more redevelopment projects. I hope the citizens realize that they have a good City Council right now and they just gained a very good city manager. Thanks again council for making the right choice and best wishes to Clint.
