The Hollister Independence Rally Committee on Friday warned residents who park downtown to have vehicles off several streets by Thursday night.

HIRC Interim Executive Director Bob Beals said people should steer clear of Fifth, Sixth and Seventh streets from Monterey to Sally streets beginning at 5 p.m. the night before the weekend rally begins.

“I want to give people a heads up,” Beals said.

Vehicles must be off those streets by 6 p.m. to allow for vendors to begin setting up.

If people don’t comply, their cars will be towed.

“And we don’t want that to happen,” Beals said.

The Hollister Police Department will place signs in the rally area 24 hours before the streets are planned to close.

The rally begins at 8 a.m. Friday and vendors are scheduled to leave by late Sunday night.
