A week after the Hollister Independence Rally, rally officials are still working on compiling numbers and statistics for attendance and revenue generated, but estimated between 100,000 and 120,000 bikes roared through the town during the three-day event.

Bob Beals, executive director of the Hollister Independence Rally Committee (HIRC), has spent the past five days counting money and getting the office “back into shape,” he said.

“It’s as busy for me after as before or during the rally,” he said. “I’ve been doing a lot of data entry, especially with the parking fees. That added a lot more work to the whole thing.”

Beals guessed that crowd estimates would be comparable to last year’s numbers of 120,000. Although Friday and Sunday might have had fewer people, Saturday’s attendance made up for it, he said.

“I don’t have a clue (on crowd estimates) right now,” Beals said. “It’s too soon.”

A wrap-up rally meeting with HIRC and the city, which will include law enforcement officials, is scheduled for July 15.

After that meeting, Beals hopes to have more concrete numbers for attendance and revenue, he said.

“At that meeting we’ll be talking about money issues, when we’ll be getting the money into (the city) and other general issues,” he said.
