Another organization has come out against Measure G.

At its general meeting, the San Benito Association of Realtors voted unanimously to support a no vote on Measure G.

President-elect Mary Ann Filice discussed the measure and several local Realtors spoke about the issue of property rights. They expressed the need to work for the good of the community and the importance of Hollister to encourage commercial and industrial growth so that families can work in the area, according to a press release. Hollister is unattractive to companies wanting to relocate here if there is no housing available for their employees, the release said.

Also, Realtors are concerned about the “devastating effect” Measure G will have on the local economy. The San Benito Association of Realtors said the measure is unfair to farmers and ranchers who have farmed the land for generations.

Realtors said the measure does not address the growth problems the City of Hollister has created, according to the release, and that the problems need to be addressed in another way.
