San Benito Street is closed for repair.

Malfunction downtown was latest in string of main breaks

The City of Hollister made quick work of the water main break that occurred last week on San Benito Street – just the latest in a string of malfunctions to the aging water system that is ready for an overhaul.

The City of Hollister Public Works Department responded to the main break near 7-11 south of Haydon Street on San Benito Street. As of mid-last week, the water service was back on, and public works crews were finishing the patchwork.

The repairs can cost thousands of dollars, and it just added to the most recent main breaks to the downtown area system in early February on Fourth Street near the sheriff’s administration building and also on Madera Court.
