SAN JUAN BAUTISTA

Mission City merchants will kick off the holiday season Saturday with San Juan Bautista’s second annual Holiday in Lights Parade.

Scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. on Third Street, the parade is part of the local “Merchant’s Holiday Weekend.”

Planned events include a raffle and the appearance of Santa Claus during the parade.

The activities are intended to attract people to local stores, which will be offering discounts and refreshments for the entire weekend.

The city held its first holiday parade in December 2006, and event organizers declared it a success. Hollister held a similar 17th Annual Lights On Parade on Saturday.
