Well, it’s about time. We finally had a nice round of showers down here in South County. We couldn’t wait on Mother Nature much longer and she finally came through. The grass is already greener down here and folks are in a lot better mood.
We got a little over an inch at our place for the entire storm. John Flook reported close to two inches at his place. Alex Schmidt had over .90 inches for the first round and I haven’t heard what he got for the second round. Kenny Sabin had about an inch at his place and Vern and Jo Ann Scattini had close to two inches at their place. Now, with a week of warm weather, the grass really should start shooting up. Thank goodness!
Well, so sorry to all you 49-er fans out there. It was a good game, but unfortunatly not good enough. Lisa Smith was able to watch the game live at Candlestick Park as well as Dana and Billy Aviles. The Super Bowl should be a good one, even though no local favorites will be playing. I’m rooting for the Patriots, even though they whipped on my Broncos pretty bad.
Several Super Bowl pools are taking place right now for fundraisers for local sporting events. Contact either Kristy Bourdet to get a square that benefits high school rodeo, or Audra Bourdet for a square that benefits her boys’ travel baseball team.
Congratulations to Sara Mae DeRosa for being named Cattlewoman of the Year. Sara accepted her beautiful bracelet at the Cattlwomen’s meeting in Nevada last week.
Birthday wishes go out to Jeff Schmidt who is celebrating his 88th birthday today. Here’s wishing you many, many more birthdays, Uncle Jeff.
The annual Red Bluff Ranch Rodeo was held last weekend with a few South County residents participating in the event. Unfortunatly none of our guys had any luck.
They did, however, have a great time. Those competing from our area included Wyatt Bourdett and Elliot French, Hec Hurley and Lee Whitney. Better luck next year guys.
