swimmers competed.
New San Benito Aquatics coach Dave Steele took his swim team to the Zone Championships in Santa Clara last weekend where 1,500 swimmers competed.

Steele replaced Andreas Lidholm, whose one-year contract wasn’t renewed.

The busiest swimmer was Tanner Carrillo-Zazueta, who swam in eight events in the 8-and-under age division. Zazueta-Carillo’s best performance was in the 25-yard backstroke, where he placed fourth with a time of 19.94. He was sixth in the 50-yard freestyle in 36.36.

SBA’s top finish came from Shelli Reed, who was second in the 50-yard backstroke at 31.62 in the 11-12-year-old division.

Mitch Molchan – 50 free 30.75; 200 free 2:28.14

Erin Reed – 200 free 2:10.32

Nathan Thomes – 25-breast 29.53; 100-IM 2:11.44 (seven events)
