Editor,
Lately it has been a pleasure to attend almost all of our Board of Supervisors’ meetings. They are always in order without the bombshells we observed with the past Supervisors. In my opinion, they left great pain for the ones they drove to welfare and the ones they ran out of the county for lack of opportunity. I feel they ended up disoriented about their failures. A few of the good employers quit like Mr. May and Mr. Solario. They couldn’t stand the directions they wanted them to take. One time they were prepared to fire our county assessor. Another time they were ready to shave our clerk’s mustache. And, the lawsuits they created. I think their failures got them disoriented.
They worked so hard to implement so many laws, rules and regulations so they could continue to rule after they left. Measure G was one that, if it had passed, would have been a disaster. That was approved by four of them. Then there is the Hillside Ordinance that we haven’t seen the last word on. I attended the last meeting on that topic and there wasn’t even one person in favor present. It was denied by the planning commissioners for the second time. Talking with one of these old leaders, I mentioned that the need for housing has caused so much demand that no one who lives here can afford it. The answer I got was that the ones who can’t make it here will have to move out. I didn’t like this attitude. This is the kind of leader who does nothing but get in the way.
I have been watching the new board and new administrators. I am very confident that they are on the right track. I feel they know this is not going to be easy but that they know what to do to move the ship in the right direction. I give this board and these administrators, and all the public should as well, lots of credit for what they have done to put out the fire in all those lawsuits we have against the county. I hope they can keep things that were for the good of the county’s economy and a peaceful for the ones who live here.
I feel I don’t have to write more letters for as long as things are going in the right direction. I’d like to thank the public. The ones who have been letting me know they have appreciated my writing. I’ve always been sure in my letters before I write them that I am speaking the truth. And, for the ones that thought I may have stepped on their toes, I feel there must have been a reason. I’d like to thank the Free Lance and the Pinnacle for accepting my letters with my views and opinions. Thank you for your kindness, it has been a pleasure to know you all. Peace and prosperity is the key.
