Tyler Provost, a San Benito High School and Gavilan College graduate, recently played in his first professional baseball game.
Provost played in the final three-game series for the Hawaii Hilo Stars of the Pacific Association of Professional Baseball Clubs. That series ended the regular season for the Hawaii Stars.
The experience started when Provost attended a two-day tryout July 27 and July 28 for the Pacific Association of Professional Baseball Clubs and received a phone call on Aug. 9 from the Hawaii Stars team, which was finishing up a series of games in Japan and wanted Provost for their season-ending three-game series starting at third base against the San Rafael Pacifics.
Provost batted 2-for-7 with a walk, as Hawaii took one of three games.
Provost was a 2009 San Benito High graduate and All-League baseball player. He was then a 2010-11 Gavilan College graduate and All-Conference baseball player. From there, he played in 2012 for Patton University and in 2013 for Simpson University.
