Ryan Vincent Hayes

Ryan Vincent Hayes was born March 21, 2007, at O’Connor Hospital in San Jose to parents Kimberly and Daniel Hayes of Gilroy. He weighed 7pounds, 12 ounces.

ENGAGEMENTS

Dudley/Delaney

Sarah K. Dudley, daughter of Mark and Judy Dudley of Morgan Hill, and Dan Delaney, son of Howard and Mary Anne Delaney of Cameron Park, announce their engagement.

Sarah is a Sacramento State graduate and is an administrative assistant with Life Touch.

Dan is a graduate of Sacramento State. He recieved highest honors in his business finance major. He was honored by the International Honors Society and is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma. He is employed at Investors Bank and Trust.

Shattuck/Cook

Kathryn E. Shattuck and Travis Paul Cook have announced their plans for marriage on May 19 at the Mount Timpanogos temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in American Fork, Utah.

Kathryn is the daughter of Mark and Linda Shattuck of San Jose and Hollister. Travis is the son of Paul and Carolene Cook of Provo, Utah. The reception will be held at Sun River Gardens in Orem, Utah.

Kathryn is employed with the Alpine School District as a sign language interpreter. She is attending the Advanced Certification Interpreter Preparation Program at Utah Valley State College working towards her bachelor’s degree. Travis served a 2-year mission in Hong Kong, for the LDS Church. He is employed at Ken Garff’s Auto in Orem, Utah. He is also attending Utah Valley State College and finalizing his degree in Business Management.

The couple plans to reside in Provo, Utah.

ANNIVERSARY

Bob and Charlene Taylor

In November 1939, 15-year-old Charlene Greene moved with her parents and sisters from Louisiana to Mountain View. On her first day at Mountain View High School, Charlene walked into her civics class and was surprised by the brash young man who asked her for a date that very first day. The reserved southern girl immediately said “No!”

Smitten by the dark-haired beauty, 17-year-old Bob Taylor was persistent in his pursuit. However, it took several months and the intervention of a friend to finally convince beautiful Charlene to take a chance on charismatic Bob.

In April of 1940, the teenagers had their first date when they attended the Mountain View High School Senior Play. From that day to this, they have been a couple. Married on May 10, 1942, Morgan Hill residents Bob and Charlene Taylor recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.

A family celebration was held in Morgan Hill on May 5. Attending the festivities were many of their seven children, Bob Taylor, Bill Taylor, Barbara Taylor, Betty Dunworth, Bonnie Barker, Brad Taylor, Bruce Taylor, 20 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Warnock/Realini

Robin Warnock and Ryan Realini were married Dec. 9, 2006 at Peninsula Bible Church in Cupertino. A reception was held at Silver Creek Country Club.

Robin is the daughter of Bob and Holly Warnock of Morgan Hill. She is a 2001 graduate of Live Oak High School and a 2006 graduate of San Jose State University. She is currently earning her master’s degree in clinical psychology at Bethany University.

Ryan is the son of Rob and Lauri Realini of Cupertino. He is a 1998 graduate of Monte Vista High School and 2003 graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara. She is a teacher at Valley Christian Junior High School and the assistant varsity baseball coach.

The couple met when Robin was Ryan’s substitute teacher. They currently reside in Morgan Hill.

Kay/Arias

Julianna Kay and Jacinto Arias were married Feb. 10, 2007, at the Hollister Methodist Church. Friends and family joined the couple at a reception at the San Juan Oaks Golf Club following the ceremony.

Julianna is the daughter of Robert and Judith Kay of Gilroy. Jacinto is the son of Jose and Yolanda Arias of Las Vegas, Nevada. Julianna is a 1996 graduate of Gilroy High School and a 2000 graduate of Sonoma State University. She is employed as a 3rd grade teacher at El Roble School in Gilroy. Jacinto is a graduate of San Francisco State University and is employed as a 4th grade teacher at El Roble School.

The couple honeymooned in Maui, Hawaii, and now make their home in Gilroy.

HONORS

Rachel Pham, a graduate of Live Oak High School and Gavilan College, has obtained a B.S. in nursing from San Jose State University. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Society of Nursing and was recently honored as a Deans List Scholar. Rachel participated in the Moore Foundation Accelerated BSN program and completed her studies in 18 months.

Rachel lives with her husband and three children in Morgan Hill. She has passed the California State Nursing Exam and is now working at El Camino Hospital.

David Angelo Bridwell

David Angelo Bridwell has been selected for the 2007-08 Social Science Merit Fellowship in recognition of his outstanding academic achievement and promise. The Merit Fellowship is the most competitive award offered to students within the UC Irvine School of Socials Sciences. In the fall David will pursue his graduate and Ph.D. in the Department of Cognitive Sciences at Irvine. David was also published in the April 3 issue of “Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences,” for a research project at UC Davis.

David received is bachelor of science with a major in neurobiology, physiology and behavior with a minor in neuroscience, from UC Davis June 2006.

David is the son of Greg Bridwell of Davis, and Rosemary Bridwell of Hollister.

Sebastien Reyes

Sebastien Reyes graduated May 5 from Loyola Marymount University, LMU, in Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Arts in political science and a Bachelor of Arts in theology. He was Man of the Year of the Division of Student Affairs’ highest award. He was involved in Associated Students LMU during his four years – twice as Vice President of Social Justice.

In addition, Sebastien was recognized in April 2007 as Greek Man of the Year – for the fraternity Sigma Phi Epsilon. Under his leadership as president, SigEp was recognized as Organization of the Year 2006-2007 for its community service, philanthropy and leadership.

Sebastien was born and raised in Gilroy and attended local schools. He was involved in parks and recreation sports, Little League, in band and worked each year at the Garlic Festival.

Mark Johanson

Mark Johanson of Morgan Hill recently accepted a Music Scholarship Award from Valparaiso University in Indiana. The award was recommended by the faculty of the Department of Music at Valparaiso, based on an audition in piano.

Mark plans to enter the university as a first-year student this fall, where he expects to major in music.
