Mike Razumich, a 2002 Like Oak High School graduate, will graduate from the University of California, Santa Barbara, on June 17 with a bachelor’s degree in business finance and a minor in sports management. He will be working in an auditing position at Ernst & Young in San Jose starting in September.

Ariele Michelle Combs-Palm, a Notre Dame High School Graduate of 2002, will graduate from the University of Arizona with a bachelor’s degree in political science and a minor in history.

Military

Justin G. Guevara

Army National Guard Pvt. Justin G. Guevara has graduated from the Light-Wheeled Vehicle Mechanics Advances Individual Training course at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

He was trained to perform maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair wheeled vehicles and related mechanical components, which include internal combustions engines and power trains, spark-and commpression-ignition engines, wheel-hub assemblies, hydraulic-power brakes, suspension and steering systems, and learned to operate a wheeled vehicle crane, hoist and winch assembly. He is a 2003 graduate of San Andreas High School in Hollister.

Marriages

Conner-Higgins

Elizabeth Megan Conner and Justin Alexander Higgins were married May 28 at the bride’s parents’ home in Lakeville, Minn. The groom is the son of Keith and Karen Higgins of Gilroy. He graduated from Gilroy High School in 1999 and from Point Loma Nazarene University and received a bachelor’s degree in management information systems in 2003. He is employed in San Diego by Tierranet.

The bride is the daughter of Jim and Peggy Conner of Lakeville, Minn. She graduated from Milligan College in Johnson City, Tenn., and is employed by Petterson Dental in San Diego. The couple honeymooned on the U.S. Virgin Islands for one week.

Fortino-Foster

Carolyn Emma Fortino and John Clayton Foster will be married July 22. The bride is the daughter of Joe and Peggy Fortino. She is a graduate of Fresno State University and earned a degree in biology. She received her teaching credential and now teaches seventh and eighth grade science at Bret Harte Middle School in San Jose. The groom is the son of Chuck and Mary Foster. He is a graduate of North Carolina State University. He graduated with a degree in engineering and accepted a position at Spansion in Sunnyvale. The couple were engaged April 2005 at a camping trip in Yosemite. They plan to live in Mt. View, CA.

Walsh-Souza

Andria Michelle Walsh and William Anthony Souza will be married August 19. The bride is the daughter of Mike and Carol Walsh of Madera. She is a graduate of Live Oak High School. She continued her education at the University of Santa Barbara and received her degree in communications. She is currently employed as a commercial property manager. The groom is the son of Alfred and Betti Souza of Morgan Hill. He is a graduate of Live Oak High School and received his degree from Chico State University. He is currently employed as an admissions councelor for a Bay Area college. The couple were engaged in Sedona, Ariz., this past July.

Wooldridge-Flendrich

Amy Nichole Wooldridge and Jeramy Flendrich will be married July 29. The bride is the daughter of Curtis and Mary Postle of Hollister. She is a graduate of San Andreas High School and plans to finish ADJ degree in Oregon. The groom is a succesful electrician and an ocean diver who will be employed as a diver in Oregon after the wedding. The couple were engaged November of 2005 in Santa Cruz on the beach. They plan to live in Oregon.

Roberta Dexter Anderson

Roberta Dexter Anderson will retire from Spring Grove School in Hollister on June 23, after teaching for 34 years. Anderson taught second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth grades. She began her career as a fifth grade teacher, and will end her career after many years of teaching as a Reading Specialist and Projects Coordinator for the district. The students and staff at Spring Grove School will always hold a special place in her heart. She looks forward to retirement with her husband of 39 years, Philip Anderson.

Mrs. Anderson has lived in Gilroy most of her life. She comes from a family with longtime Gilroy ties. She attended San Ysidro School, Gilroy High School, Gavilan College and San Jose State University. At one time, she was also Miss Gilroy.

Wilfredo Sanchez

Air Force Airman Wilfredo Sanchez has graduated from basic military trainig at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies. He performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations.

He is the son of Refugio Sanchez and Belia Gonzales of Hollister. Sanchez is a 2004 graduate of San Benito High School.

Justin A. Sabla

Justin A. Sabla graduated June 2 from class “A” school for aviation electronics technician at Pesacola Naval Air Station in Pesacola, Fla. Upon completion of “A” school he has been assigned to “C” school for 45 days at Jacksonville Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, Fla. After “C” school Sabla has been assigned to Patuxant Naval Air Station until October 2008. Sabla is a 2005 graduate of Gilroy High School.
