Heiderich- Williams

Katrina Heiderich, daughter of Bill and Carol Heiderich of Hollister, and Joseph Williams, son of John Williams of Hollister and Sharon Starns of Morgan Hill, were married June 25 at Casa Maria in San Juan Bautista.

Katrina is a seventh-grade language arts teacher for Gilroy Unified School District. Joseph is a manager at Dotseth Specialty Parts.

The bride wore an Empire Waist gown with a beaded band around the waist and hem and white satin buttons down the train. She carried an embroidered handkerchief that her paternal grandmother carried at her wedding.

Elena Andrade, Val Kraml and Jory Fisher were the bride’s attendants. The best man and ushers were John Williams Jr. A.J. Engwall, and Ben and Tim Heiderich.

Readings were done by Jessica Gibson and both fathers. The traditional ceremony was performed by Pastor Tim Huff, a longtime family friend who included customs such as the lighting of the unity candle and the cup ceremony.

The wedding party walked in to classical guitar by Terrance Farrell. The reception for 120 guests was held at Casa Maria and featured a salmon dinner followed by raspberry wedding cake.

The couple had a week-long honeymoon in Belize.

Anniversary

Mendosa-Hattaway

Melinda Ashley Mendosa and Rick Hattaway were married Aug. 21, 2004. Father Peter officiated.

Melinda is the daughter of Mike and Carmen Mendosa of Gilroy.

She graduated from Gilroy High in 2001 and attended Gavilan College. She is currently working for Longs Drug Store in Gilroy and for the family business, Victoria’s Mexican Restaurant.

Rick is the son of Rick and Donna Hattaway of Frazier Park, Calif.

He graduated from Bakersfield High School in 1994 and earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Woodbury University in Burbank in 1998.

He now operates his own business, Malibu Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc., in Gilroy.

The bride’s maid of honor was Sabrina Ortega, and her attendants were Dena Hattaway, sister of groom; Cyndi and Shantal Dominguez; and Amber Muniz, all cousins of the bride; and Stacy Luberto and Maxine Bermudez. The flower girl was cousin Presley Prieto.

Randy Hattaway was best man for his brother. Groomsmen were Michael and Matthew Mendosa, brothers of the bride; Zachary Snyder, cousin of the bride; and Donald Prieto, cousin of the bride; and friends Phana Seng and Steven Lewingskikal. The ushers were cousins Devin Rottler, Lance Wolfsmith and Forrest Alvarez.

After the wedding, there was a sit-down dinner for 200 people at San Juan Oaks with special guests Rose and Angela Gage, aunts of the groom, and grandmother Francis Veltri, all of southern California.

The couple’s first dance was performed by cousin Donald “Elvis” Prieto, who sang “Cross my Heart.”

The honeymoon was in Maui, Hawaii.

The couple would like to thank their family and friends for their love and support.

Engagement

McCown-Murillo

The engagement of Heather McCown and Juan Murillo was celebrated Aug. 7 at a surprise engagement party in Willow Glen. Family and friends cheered with congratulations and blessings as the unsuspecting couple arrived.

Heather, daughter of Don and Janet McCown and Juan, son of John and Donna Murillo are long-time residents of Morgan Hill.

Though Heather and Juan both graduated from Live Oak High School in 1989 and both attended the University of California, Davis, the happy couple met for the first time two years ago at the party of a mutual high school friend.

After UC Davis, the bride-to-be pursued her “passion for fashion” and obtained an associate degree in art and design from New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology. She currently works as a design assistant for “Koret of California” in Oakland.

Juan went on to pursue his interests in information technology eventually founding his own technology consulting business in October 2003.

The wedding will be held at the San Juan Bautista Mission in November 2005.
