David Kobold

Army Pfc. David J. Kobold has graduated from the Cryptologic Linguist Specialist Course at the Defense Language Institute, Foreign Language Center, Presidio of Monterey, Monterey.

The course is designed to provide knowledge and skills necessary to perform at the apprentice level in speaking and translating a foreign language. Students are trained, sustained and evaluated in foreign language skills under the guidelines of the Defense Foreign Language Program, which provides the Department of Defense and other Federal agencies with linguists fully capable of supporting U.S. national interests worldwide.

Kobold is a cryptologic linguist specializing in Pashto. The private first class has served in the military for one year. He is the son of Mary Ann Kobold of Morgan Hill and graduated in 1993 from Live Oak High School.

Rachel Nin

Rachel Elizabeth Nin, of Morgan Hill, graduated from Denison University May 13 with a bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude.

She graduated with a double major in theatre and English with a concentration in writing. A consistent dean’s list student, she is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, the national academic honorary; Sigma Tau Delta, the national English honorary; and Theta Alpha Pi, the national theatre honorary. Nin received the National Merit Scholarship, the Paschal Carter Scholarship, the Leroy “Ace” Morgan Memorial Scholarship, the Juliet Barker Sarett Scholarship in English and Dramatics, the Vinton R. Shepard Memorial Scholarship in English and the Edward Wright Scholarship. Her senior project was titled “Cariad.” Nin participated in theatre productions “Cato at the Bakehouse Near Headquarters,” “Inherit the Wind,” “Miss Firecracker Contest” and “Legacy of Light.” She studied off-campus with the Advanced Studies in England Program in the United Kingdom. She was active with Independent Theatre Association.

Denison University, founded in 1831, is an independent, residential liberal arts institution located in Granville, Ohio.

Leniece Virginia Gamboa

Leniece Virginia Gamboa was born March 2, 2012 at Saint Louise Regional Hospital to Deniece Lujan and Jose Gamboa Jr. of Hollister. She weighed 6 pounds, 1 ounce.
