ENGAGEMENT: Apodaca/Hinderscheid: Sarah Marie Apodaca and Jeffrey Charles Hinderscheid are engaged to be married.
Sarah, daughter of Mrs. Darlene Apodaca and the late Mr. Roy Apodaca of Hollister, is a graduate of Gavilan College and works for the County of Monterey, Department of Social and Employment Services.
Jeffrey, son of Mrs. Tina Kelly and Mr. Jim Hinderscheid, of King City, is a graduate of UC Irvine and works for the County of Monterey, Department of Social and Employment Services.

James Nicolas Lafuente
James Nicolas Lafuente, a senior art major from Gilroy, was named to the Culver-Stockton College Honors List for the fall 2011 semester.
To be named to an honors list, Culver-Stockton College requires students to meet high academic standards. President’s List students have earned a 4.0 GPA and were enrolled in a minimum of 12 hours. Dean’s List students have earned between a 3.5 and 3.99 GPA and were enrolled in a minimum of 12 hours, with no grade lower than a C. Honor Roll students have earned between a 3.2 and 3.49 and were enrolled in a minimum of 12 hours, with no grade lower than a C.
Culver-Stockton College is a private, liberal arts college located in Canton, Mo.
Vania Parakati
Vania Parakati was named Gavilan College’s Employee of the Month for January 2012.
Vania is a part-time employee working as a career transfer specialist in the Student Services Department. She started with the district in August 2011.
Since the beginning, Vania has always been welcoming to not only the Associated Student Body (ASB), but to all students as well. She has a friendly personality and cares deeply about the needs and questions of the students. ASB partnered with Vania for Transfer Day 2011 and she did an outstanding job, especially considering it was her first time. Although her hours only allow her to be on campus two days a week, she dedicates as much of that time as possible to the students.
Jubenal Rodriguez
Jubenal (Juvy) Rodriguez, a senior, was named to the Dean’s List at California State University, Monterey Bay for the fall semester. The Dean’s List recognizes students who have achieved a minimum grade-point average of 3.5 for a course load of at least 12 credits.
Juvy, son of Lorena and Miguel Rodriguez, is a 2007 graduate of Sobrato High School.

Mark Anthony, Jr.
Mark Anthony, Jr. was born Dec. 15, 2011 at Kaiser San Jose to Sydney Juarez and Mark Anthony Hurtado of Morgan Hill. He weighed 8 pounds.
