Zachary Perez

HONORS: Zachary Solomon Perez: U.S. Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Zachary Solomon Perez graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. His flight received warriors honor.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills. Perez will continue training in Intelligence Operations with the Air Force.
Perez is the son of Jess Perez and Samela Zubow and is a 2013 graduate of San Benito High School.
Cameron Pappa
Cameron Pappa, of Gilroy, was named to the 2014 spring semester dean’s list at Ohio Wesleyan University. To qualify, students must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale in all applicable classes.
Founded in 1842, Ohio Wesleyan University offers more than 90 undergraduate majors, minors and concentrations, and 23 NCAA Division III varsity sports.
Locals graduate from George Fox University
The following students earned degrees from George Fox University May 1-3.
• Angelyn Haughey of Morgan Hill, bachelor’s degree in nursing
• Sydney Main of Morgan Hill, bachelor’s degree in economics

Ashley Mammen
Ashley Mammen of Morgan Hill, a senior in the College of Arts and Sciences, was named to the 2014 spring semester dean’s list at Creighton University. Full-time students who earn a 3.5 grade-point average or better on a 4.0 scale are eligible.
Creighton University in Omaha, Neb., enrolls 4,000 undergraduates and 4,000 graduate and professional students among nine schools and colleges.
Melissa Cachopo
Melissa Cachopo, a 2010 graduate of Ann Sobrato High School, graduated from the University of Puget Sound on May 18, 2014. Cachopo majored in psychology and minored in business leadership.
Cachopo is the daughter of Paul and Linda Cachopo of Morgan Hill. While a student at Puget Sound, Cachopo participated in women’s basketball and Alpha Phi sorority.
Founded in 1888, the University of Puget Sound is a 2,600-student, independent, national liberal arts college in Tacoma, Wash.
Jeffrey Roberts
Jeffrey Roberts, of Morgan Hill, earned a bachelor’s degree in business studies from Kansas Wesleyan University.
Commencement activities began Friday, May 9, with a senior picnic, followed by the Honors and Awards Convocation in Sams Chapel of Pioneer Hall. The Baccalaureate Service took place on Saturday morning at University Methodist Church on the corner of the KWU campus.
Jon Thielges
Jon Thielges, of Gilroy, was recently initiated into Phi Kappa Phi at California State University, Long Beach.
Founded in 1897 at the University of Maine and headquartered in Baton Rouge, La., Phi Kappa Phi is the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline honor society.
Ryan Yappert
Ryan Yappert, of Gilroy, was named to the dean’s list at Bucknell University for the spring semester of the 2013-14 academic year. Dean’s list students have achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a scale of 4.0. Yappert is the son of Joanne and Craig Yappert .
Located in Lewisburg, Pa., Bucknell University is a private, liberal arts university that offers majors in the arts, engineering, humanities, management and social and natural sciences.
