HONORS: Attalyssa Berg: Attalyssa Berg, of Gilroy, was named to the dean’s list at Olivet Nazarene University during the recently completed fall 2014 semester. To qualify for inclusion on the dean’s list, a student must have been enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student and must have attained a semester grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 grading scale.
Mariah Martinez
Mariah Martinez was named a presidential scholar during the fall 2014 semester at Humboldt State University. To qualify, students must maintain a 3.85 GPA with a minimum of 12 credit hours.
City of Gilroy honored
The City of Gilroy Parks and Recreation Commission was recognized by the California Parks and Recreation Society (CPRS) District 4 and the California Association of Park and Recreation Commissioners and Board Members (CAPRCBM), for its outstanding efforts and contributions to the Recreation Youth Scholarship Fund.
For the last four years, the City of Gilroy Parks and Recreation Commissioners have organized the annual Great Garlic 5K FUNdraiser. In the last four years, the Commissioners have helped raise $7,703 for the Youth Scholarship Program through donations and registration fees.
Krystal Rock
Krystal Rock, of Morgan Hill, earned dean’s list honors for the fall 2014 semester at Maryville University in St. Louis, Mo. Rock is currently studying for a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice/criminology. Students are eligible for the list when they complete at least 12 Maryville University credit hours in a semester with a minimum of a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 (perfect) scale.
Founded in 1872, Maryville University is a selective, comprehensive, and nationally ranked private institution with an enrollment of nearly 6,000 students.
Reed Kienle
Reed B. Kienle, of Gilroy, a senior majoring in sports and recreation management from Franklin Pierce University in Rindge, N.H., was named to the dean’s honors list for the fall 2014 semester by maintaining a grade term point average of at least 3.85 on a scale of four.
