ENGAGEMENT: Watson/Joyce: Jennifer Watson and Daniel Joyce are engaged to be married.
Jennifer, originally from Gilroy, has a master’s degree from San Jose State University and is a program director for Reading Partners.
Daniel, originally from Brick, N.J., is an information system manager for Bloomberg.
The couple is planning a May 24, 2014 wedding in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. They reside in Washington D.C.

Esther Castaneda
Esther Castaneda was named Gavilan College’s Employee of the Month for August. Esther is an admissions/student records technician and has been with Gavilan College since 1983. Her willingness to help students understand the “application process” is over and beyond. There are so many changes with AB540/Out-State students and their application process. Having to learn the community college application process and communicating with Gavilan’s registration software system has not been an easy task and to keep smiling and joking daily is truly amazing.

Morgan Lee Chappell, of Hollister, recently graduated from Fort Hays State University, Hays, Kan. with a master’s degree in criminal justice.
John Spicer
John Dean Spicer, of Morgan Hill, recently graduated from Fort Hays State University, Hays, Kan. with a master’s degree in organizational leadership.
Miguel Lugo
Army Pvt. Miguel A. Lugo Jr. has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid and Army history, core values and traditions. Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics and experiencing use of various weapons and weapons defenses available to the infantry crewman.
Lugo is the son of Angelica and Ralph Molano of Gilroy and a 2012 graduate of Gilroy High School.

Bria Josephine Zuniga was born Sept. 13, 2013 at Hazel Hawkins Hospital to Mary Ann Zuniga of Hollister and Layne Heintz of Angels Camp. She weighed 7 pounds, 2.3 ounces.
