Police this week announced the arrest of a second suspect in relation to the April 25 stabbing of a man in Hollister, according to authorities.
Eddie DeGracia surrendered to Hollister Police on the night of May 5. Investigators had identified DeGracia as a suspect shortly after the violent incident, but his whereabouts had been unknown for several days, Hollister Police said in a press release.
DeGracia was booked at San Benito County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder and a parole violation, police said.
Suspect Jose Astorga, of Hollister, had been arrested within 14 hours after the stabbing incident, which police said was an attempt to kill the victim.
Just before midnight April 25, Hollister Police officers responded to a report of a stabbing in the 200 block of Elm Drive. When officers arrived, they located a 31-year-old male victim who was suffering from multiple stab wounds.
The victim was transported to a nearby trauma hospital and is expected to survive the stab wounds. Police said the stabbing was gang-related, and the victim’s attackers had tried to kill him.
During the investigation, police identified DeGracia and Astorga as suspects. Although Astorga was quickly located and arrested, DeGracia remained on the run until May 5.
Last week, the Hollister Police Department released a notice to the public seeking assistance in locating DeGracia.
Police said they have served multiple search warrants throughout Hollister, and drafted more than 10 additional warrants to advance the investigation.
“The Hollister Police Department extends its gratitude to the community for its assistance,” the press release said.
