I’m appalled that quotes referring to the length of time at the
crash site and condition of the deceased pilots were included in
the article. Hopefully the sheriff’s department representative
quoted as well as the reporters will be reminded that friends and
family members of victims read the paper, and show a good deal more
discretion and sensitivity in the future. Those quotes added
nothing except a sense of tacky sensationalism to the article. I’m
amazed they made it through editing.

Marshal Robert Scattini should also consider how tactless and hurtful his “widows were made today” comment would be to the family, and remain silent if unable to express himself more appropriately.
All in all this article is a disappointing example of both poor journalism and a severe lack of good sense and decency on the part of everyone involved. An apology to the families can’t undo the pain caused, but it’s definitely needed.
