Seven residents have pulled papers to run for three open San Benito County supervisorial seats, according to the elections office.

The three open seats on the June 3 primary ballot include districts 1, 2 and 5.

District 1 Supervisor Don Marcus has announced he won’t seek reelection. Candidates who have indicated they’re running for the seat are retired California Highway Patrol Commander Bob Davies, Autoworks owner Don Kelley, Realtor Nantz Foley and longtime Hollister School District Trustee Margie Barrios.

In District 2 so far, just incumbent Supervisor Anthony Botelho, in his first term, has pulled papers to run.

In District 5, first-term incumbent Supervisor Jaime De La Cruz is up against Marian Cruz. De La Cruz in 2004 defeated incumbent Supervisor Bob Cruz, Marian’s husband, in a controversial race in which the challenger and current board member won by 10 votes.

If a candidate in the District 1 race does not receive more than 50 percent of the vote, a runoff would be held Nov. 4.
