A San Juan Bautista Fire Department fire engine responded to this fire about a half mile west of the intersection of Route 156 and San Felipe Road in August. The blaze was part of a string of fires appearing along Route 156.

Firefighters put out a string of fires along Highway 156 near San Felipe Road by early afternoon Tuesday.
“All the fires are out,” Jeff Granucci, a fire captain for the City of Hollister, told the Free Lance just after 12:30 p.m. “Been mopped up.”
Granucci helped cover the San Juan Bautista Fire Department’s station after firemen there responded to the call.
“I’m not sure what exactly was causing that,” Granucci said.
The string of fires might have been caused by a vehicle emitting sparks along the route, he said.
