Suzy Brookshire, an incoming San Benito High senior, was recently named to the Cal-Hi Sports All-State Softball Underclassmen First Team as a catcher. Brookshire, who made a verbal commitment to Sacramento State in her sophomore year, has produced two of the most prolific offensive seasons in school history.
Last season, Brookshire earned co-Monterey Bay League MVP honors after winning the Triple Crown—she led the league in average, home runs and RBIs. Brookshire hit .560, with nine home runs, six triples, 17 doubles and 55 RBIs. She struck out only seven times in 99 plate appearances while having an on-base percentage of .586, a slugging percentage of 1.175 and an OPS of 1.762.
Those numbers were similar to her remarkable sophomore campaign, in which she also hit over .500.
