Panoche Valley Solar is hosting a local business roundtable discussion at 4:30 p.m. March 18 at the Veterans Memorial Building.
According to an announcement on the event:
A local business roundtable event for the Panoche Valley Solar Project will be hosted 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 18 upstairs at the Hollister Veterans Memorial Building 649 San Benito St. in downtown Hollister. Master contractor Amec Foster Wheeler (AFW) will provide information on materials and service needs for the $650 million, 247 megawatt, 2500-acre photovoltaic project to be constructed over two years in Paicines located in southeast San Benito County. AFW is seeking qualified vendors in San Benito County who are able to provide materials such as large and small transport vehicles, fuel, construction, safety, testing and communications equipment, temporary administrative, storage and restroom facilities, water and services including equipment and vehicle maintenance, surveying, aerial photography, disposal and recycling, transportation, road construction and maintenance, catering, security, safety and first aid services and employee housing.
Nearly 500 construction jobs are anticipated for the project and nearly 1,000 direct, indirect and induced jobs over the construction period with targeted local hiring and training requirements giving priority for San Benito County residents. Two local job fairs are planned for this spring.
