Spring brings new sports and (possibly) snakes
It sure warmed up in Bitterwater last week; it’s about that time
to start the rain dances again! The grass is really growing and the
wildflowers too, we just need another shot of rain to keep it going
for a while longer!

Anniversary wishes go out to George and Donna Palmer who celebrated a milestone last week. They celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary last Tuesday, March 4. Congratulations George and Donna, and here’s wishing you many, many more!
Just a quick reminder that with all this warm weather, you may find a sleepy rattlesnake out and about on these increasingly warmer days. Keep your eyes and your ears open, it may be that time of year again soon.
The King City High School Lady Mustangs and Lady Broncos Basketball teams hosted their awards banquet last Monday at the high school cafeteria. The dinner was catered by Coach Adrian Trujillo and his family. It was a delicious chile verde dinner with all the trimmings. I didn’t know this, but apparently Adrian’s family owns JoAnna’s Restaurant in Greenfield. I hear the food there is fantastic and if that chile verde was any indication of it, we’re definitely going to give it a try. As many Mexican restaraunts that we have in King City, there’s only one that’s worth eating at in my opinion. Sounds like we may head to Greenfield for our next good Mexican meal!
Back to the awards banquet now. Congratulations go out to varsity players Mattie Barrington, Natalie Madson and Kayla Hager for each making All-League Honors. Kayla and Erika Lopez will also be representing KCHS at the Senior All Star Game in April. Congratulations also go out to junior varsity coaches Cynda Muzylowski, Kanani Barbree and Frank Padilla on coaching such an outstanding team. The JV girls went undefeated in league play and only lost two preseason games in the final seconds of the game by only 2 points each. They truly were an outstanding team. Honors were given out to Beth Carroll and Erica Williams for their outstanding play in the tournaments and to Mandy Muzylowski for being named junior varsity defensive player of the year. The coaches’ award was given to Kylee Owens and the most valuable player award was given to Sierra Jo Sans. Way to go girls; we’re all already looking forward to next season, but, first, it’s on to track and softball! It just never ends!
Birthday wishes go out to Kambree Borzini who celebrated her birthday on March 1. She celebrated by having a barbecue in conjunction with her cousin Evan Petrovich’s birthday as well. Evan’s birthday is March 13. Happy birthday to you both!
Mike and Mary Ann Mallory branded another set of their calves last Saturday at their place. Some of those helping out included: John Nino, Allane Wallace, Dave and Mindy Rigoli, Larry Homen, Grant Kell, Garrett Crocker, Forrest, Shannon and Mason Mallory and lots of Mason’s friends from Cal Poly, and the kids and me.
Hec Hurley and the Topo Ranch Crew branded several calves last week as well. Some at the Red Corrals and some at Dry Lake. Some helping out included Blake and Jessika Silva, Ross Ketchum, Todd Sans, Casey Sabin, J.W. Brewen and Mike and Lil Massey.
Belated get well wishes go out to both Carolyn Madson and Val Bassetti who each had their knee’s operated on several weeks ago, and to Kambree Borzini who had shoulder surgery a few weeks ago as well. All three of them are doing well and are on the road to a speedy recovery.
Hope you all remembered to set your clocks an hour forward last weekend. I used to have atomic clocks that would change automatically so I’ve never had to change my clocks. My atomic clocks both broke last year so I forgot about having to manually change them this year, needless to say, we were a little off on our timing for a while on Sunday morning.
Have a great week, start praying for rain again and be sure to give me a call or e-mail me at
