For the first half in Salinas last night, the San Benito girls basketball team looked primed to win its second straight Tri-County Athletic League game. Two days after running roughshod over visiting Sobrato, the 'Balers took a two-point lead into the break.

When the Haybalers take the field at North Salinas this morning, they will begin the second half of their Tri-County Athletic League season. And for the beleaguered San Benito girls soccer team, that fresh start couldn't come at a better time.

They'll take it.
