Although the San Benito High wrestling team didn’t meet its postseason goal of qualifying a wrestler to the CIF State Championships, the Balers had several noteworthy accomplishments this season, including a solid second-place finish in the Monterey Bay League’s Gabilan Division, the best wrestling league in the Central Coast Section — bar none.

In one of the more improbable comebacks to win a championship you’ll ever see at any level, the San Benito High boys’ soccer team overcame all odds to capture the Monterey Bay League Pacific Division title on Thursday, clinching things with a dominating 3-1 win over visiting Monte Vista Christian in the regular-season finale for both teams.

A year after advancing to the Central Coast Section Division I tournament championship game, the San Benito High girls’ basketball team was beset by a slew of injuries that prevented it from having any shot of making a repeat postseason run.
