Audit of California State Athletic Commission reveals operation trouble

In an audit of the California State Athletic Commission, which protects the health and safety for boxers, kickboxers and mixed martial arts athletes, requested by Assemblymember Luis A. Alejo of Salinas, the Bureau of State Audits’ research found gross mismanagement on its financial and administrative operations, according to a release by Alejo.

Coming into last year’s final Tri-County Athletic League championship meet, the San Benito girls swimming and diving team was looking to win its fourth consecutive league title. Because of an early split-second leap in the 400-yard freestyle relay, though, that fourth straight title was taken from their grasp. 

Roundup: Golf, tennis teams fall to league opponents

Through eight matches this season, the Balers tennis team has yet to find its winning ways of a year ago. San Benito fell to 0-8 on the season Wednesday, falling 6-1 to Stevenson at the Ridgemark Tennis Center.
