After falling in its first two matches to open the 2012 season, the San Benito girls tennis squad hasn’t tasted a loss in five-consecutive matches, including Tuesday’s 6-1 win over former league opponent North Salinas.

The final score of Friday’s clash with Palo Alto might indicated a 40-23 loss for the San Benito football team, but the second game of the 2012 season was much closer than the final score for the Balers.

Tennis: Seniors give Balers an advantage

Behind a team of juniors and no seniors, the San Benito girls tennis team surprised the Tri-County Athletic League and finished in second place last fall. A year later, in the Gabilan Division of the new Monterey Bay League, expectations are sky high for the Balers.
