Trailing by three points with less than 10 second left in regulation San Benito High’s Hyram Miskin had control of the ball. Playing for the Seaside’s Finest under-16 Amateur Athletic Union basketball team in the AAU West Coast National Championship game Sunday in Las Vegas, the game fell on Miskin’s shoulders.

A little more than a year after he left the San Benito High basketball team for a job overseas, Tracy Carpenter returned to the San Benito sports’ scene last week as a co-Athletic Director at Anzar High.

After nearly a six-month search looking for a new athletic director at Anzar High, the Hawks’ athletic department officially has new leadership entering the 2012 season.

After playing football, basketball and baseball during his freshman year at Palma High, Tanner Carrillo-Zazueta thought as long as he kept up with his grades, he was well on his way to the W.H. “Hank” Muller Outstanding Scholar Athlete Award, an award given to athletes who played sports and recieved good grades through four years of high school. 

There never was any doubt who should be in the circle for the San Benito softball team’s final out of the 2012 season. One out away from winning a seventh-straight Central Coast Section Division I title, the final out was always supposed to be Megan Sabbatini’s.
