Margie Barrios

A representative from a division of the State Department of Conservation – which supports cyclic steaming and other enhanced petroleum extraction practices facing a possible ban here – is set to speak at Tuesday’s county board meeting.
The representative with the Division of Oil, Gas & Geothermal Resources, part of the department of conservation, will provide a presentation to supervisors at their 9 a.m. Tuesday meeting at the County Administration Building, 481 Fourth St.
It is upon request from Supervisor Margie Barrios, who has come out in opposition of Measure J on the November ballot aiming to ban hydraulic fracturing, steaming and acidizing as forms of extraction, along with barring all petroleum activities in rural residential zones near the two cities.
The Measure J opposition members have frequently cited the department of conservation division’s data – and stance on petroleum practices – in their argument.
