The San Benito High swim team dispatched visiting Seaside in both the boys’ and girls’ divisions on Wednesday, and claimed their final dual meet of the regular season prior to competing in the Tri-County Athletic League Championships.
The Baler boys defeated Seaside 109-52 in the non-conference meet, while the girls did the same, defeating the Spartans 115-50.

It was San Benito’s first meet since April 15, and just its second day back from Spring Break.
Although no Central Coast Section-qualifying times were recorded, San Benito head coach Christine Schafer said the team is in the midst of extensive training for the TCAL Championships, which are slated for Saturday, May 14, at Everett Alvarez High School in Salinas.
“We are in the middle of training really hard right now, and a lot of the kids are at their best or near their best times,” Schafer said. “So hopefully, when we start tapering, they’ll be able to beat it.”
Training and practice will be all San Benito has to focus on for roughly the next two weeks. The team’s regular season is now complete, with only the league championships remaining.
