Shelli Reed, a freshman at the University of New Hampshire and 2009 graduate of San Benito High, was honored as the America East Swimmer of the Week on Dec. 8 after she won three titles in a conference meet against Vermont, according to the school’s Web site.

Reed earned first-place finishes in the 100-yard freestyle (52.77) and the 100-yard butterfly (58.29), as well as earned a second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (24.51).

Reed’s second-leg performance in the 400 free relay helped preserve her team’s victory over Vermont, though. UNH trailed Vermont by five points heading into the final event, and Reed clocked a 52.87 on the second leg. The Wildcats recorded a 3:33.77 to grab first place in the 400 free relay, and leapfrogged Vermont in a 152-148 victory.

UNH is now 5-0.

According to the UNH Web site, Reed is seventh in the America East performance list in the 100 free, and is now in the top 10 in the 100 fly after the meet with Vermont. She also has the 10th best time in the 200 IM after recording a 2:10.01.
