However, I have no sympathy for workers who say they can’t afford insurance premiums. What about seniors who must carry a supplemental insurance to Medicare? I’m talking about seniors whose total monthly income is $600 per month Social Security at best. Supplemental premiums can range from $225 to $300 per month depending on coverage.

I do have some good news for seniors regarding prescription drug coverage. There are several pharmaceutical drug coverages. There are several pharmaceutical manufacturers who offer discount cards for various medications. If you’re eligible, there is no monthly service fee.

The pharmaceutical manufacturers are:

A. Pfizer – phone, (800) 717-6005

This card can be used for all Pfizer brand medications, the most popular being Lipitor. If you’re eligible, you pay only $15 per month (30 day supply).

B. Eli Lilly and Co. – phone, (877) 795-4559

This card can be used for all Eli Lilly medications, the most popular being Insulin. If eligible, you pay only $12 per bottle.

C. Orange card – phone, (866) 333-9721

D. Together Rx – phone, (800) 865-7211

E. Abbott Laboratories – phone, (800) 222-6885

F. Astra Zeneca (800) 424-3721

G. Glaxo-Smith Kline (888) 527-6936

H. Bristol-Myers Squibb (800) 736-0003

If you are a senior with a Medicare card, please don’t hesitate to contact these pharmaceutical manufacturers. The phone call is free, the application is free and enrollment is free. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain in the form of prescription medication cost savings.
