Hollister Police are looking for a suspect or suspects involved in the drive-by shooting of a 19-year-old man on the southeast side of the city’s downtown.
About 4:50pm Nov. 18, Hollister Police officers were dispatched to the area of South Street and Prospect Avenue on a report of a shooting that had just occurred, according to authorities.
The 19-year-old male victim had been walking with his girlfriend on the west sidewalk of McCray Street, in the area of the 600 block of that street. A vehicle approached northbound on McCray Street and someone inside the moving car shot at the couple three to five times, police said.
The male victim was struck in the torso and transported by helicopter to a Bay Area trauma center, according to police. He is being treated for a gunshot wound and is expected to survive.
The suspect vehicle is described a gray or gold sedan—possibly a Honda or Toyota, according to police.
Hollister Police officers processed the shooting scene for possible evidence and contacted local businesses that might have surveillance video footage of the area. Police are asking anyone who was in the area during that time and witnesses the shooting or the vehicle speeding away to call the Hollister Police Department with any information they have.
“Sometimes, information that someone might think is irrelevant might be the key to solving the case,” reads a statement from Hollister PD.
