The San Benito boys’ tennis team took two league matches from Monte Vista Christian and Everett Alvarez last week. The Baler boys’ defeated MVC 5-2 last Tuesday, and topped Everett Alvarez 6-1 last Thursday.

Last Thursday’s match, in fact, saw San Benito sweep through the doubles portion. Top pairing Kyle Skinner and Eric Johnson defeated Jay Selim and Diego Garcia 6-0, 6-0; Brian Becerra and Sunny Singh did the same to Jose Ramirez and Brett Seggerman 6-1, 6-0; and Andrew and Jacob Panger completed the sweep with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over JC Laguedas and Gabriel Perez.
In singles, the Balers earned three victories. No. 1 singles player Jacob Garcia defeated Jeremy Ortiz 6-4, 6-1, while No. 3 Geoff Muzik beat Conrad Contreras 6-1, 2-6 (10-8) and No. 4 Alex Reilly topped Jacob Sanchez 6-0, 6-2.
Alvarez earned its lone win at No. 2 singles, where Joel Munoz defeated Nick Trillo 6-2, 6-3.
Last Tuesday, San Benito visited Monte Vista Christian, where it again swept the doubles portion. Skinner and Johnson beat Khoi Huang and David Lin 6-3, 7-5; Becerra and Singh dispatched Kyle Chang and Jamie Ye 6-2, 3-6 (10-7); and the Panger brothers downed Albert Chen and Gino Mininni 7-5, 6-1.
In singles, San Benito’s top player in Garcia defeated Sean Trandieau 6-2, 6-2, while Muzik at No. 3 edged Radiylon Mina 6-1, 4-6 and 11-9 in the third-set tiebreaker.
Monte Vista Christian picked up two wins at No. 2 singles, where David Lee downed Trillo 4-6, 7-6 (10-7); and at No. 4 singles, where Andy Chang defeated Baler Travis Mills 6-1, 6-1.
San Benito is now 5-2 in the Tri-County Athletic League, 6-3 overall.
The Balers will return to the Ridgemark Golf and Country Club on Tuesday when they will host Palma at 4 p.m.
