Each match was decided in straight sets, even those in the doubles division, which has proven to be the Balers’ strength this season.

For just the second time this year, San Benito’s top doubles pairing of Kyle Skinner and Eric Johnson lost 6-2, 6-3 to Jacob Paoletti and Javier Vargas, while Baler teammates Sunny Singh and Brian Becerra dropped a 6-4, 6-1 match to Monterey’s Yingyan Wang and Ali Aamira.

San Benito’s top two doubles teams have otherwise won every other match.

The Balers’ No. 3 pairing in Jacob and Andrew Panger also lost their match to Josh Abeyta and Harry Lao, 6-2, 6-1.

In singles, it wasn’t any better for the Balers, who dropped all four matches to Monterey.

Toreador Dargh Arakawa topped Jacob Garcia 6-2, 6-2; Joseph Florio defeated Nick Trillo 6-1, 6-1; Robert Hernandez beat Alex Reilly 6-1, 6-0; and Vosman Aamira downed Travis Mills 6-0, 6-0.

The Balers are now 6-6 overall, 5-3 in the Tri-County Athletic League.

San Benito will face off at Gilroy on Tuesday. Match time is 4 p.m.
