Sweeping the singles portion of their dual meet on Thursday, the Salinas High girls tennis team easily defeated San Benito 6-1 in league action.
With its only victory coming at the No. 1 doubles position, the Lady Balers fall to 3-2 in the Tri-County Athletic League, 6-5 overall.
San Benito’s top pairing in Vanessa Casalegno and Chelsea Yoakum remained undefeated on the season and picked up the team’s only win when they beat Salinas’ Audra Bell and Kristin Shimizu 6-3, 6-1.
The Cowboys were able to claim the remaining doubles matches, though, as well as sweep the singles portion.
Jamie McDonald and Kylie Knowles-Garnett beat San Benito’s Alex Triolo and Erin Glasspool 6-0, 7-5, while Shelby Webber and Julia Rosen topped Lady Balers Olivia Diaz and Alex Garcia 6-0, 6-1.
In singles, Salinas won all four matches. Taryn Andrews defeated Hayley Barker 6-1, 6-3; Teagan Seeley beat Rachel Smith 6-1, 7-5; Kayla Siegel dispatched Kristina Slavich 6-1, 6-4; and Claire Barner defeated Audrey Marshall 6-4, 6-3.
San Benito will return to the court on Tuesday when it will host Gilroy at the Ridgemark Golf and Country Club in Hollister.
