The visiting North Salinas High girls tennis team proved to be no match for San Benito on Tuesday, as the Lady Balers made quick work of the Vikings in an easy 7-0 victory at the Ridgemark Golf and Country Club in Hollister.

With the win, San Benito is now 6-2 in the Tri-County Athletic League and 9-5 overall. The Lady Balers have two more matches this week — on Thursday at Everett Alvarez in Salinas, then Friday in a home match against Notre Dame.

Friday’s match with the Spirits was originally scheduled for last Tuesday, but was postponed for this Friday due to inclement weather.

On Tuesday, though, it was a straight sweep for the Lady Balers. In singles, Hayley Barker beat Renee Musgrove 6-1, 6-1; Rachel Smith topped Rosa Perez 6-2, 6-0; Kristina Slavich defeated Amanda Porrez 6-1, 6-1; and Audrey Marshall upended Rachel Wilkinson 6-1, 6-0.

In doubles, the undefeated duo of Vanessa Casalegno and Chelsea Yoakum defeated Brenda Santana and Selena Ramirez 6-0, 6-0; teammates Erin Glasspool and Alex Triolo dispatched Denise Santos and Leann Harden 6-0, 6-0; and Helene Escamilla and Alex Garcia dropped Alexia Kemp and Natalie Lopez 6-4, 6-2.

In late September, San Benito defeated North Salinas by a similar 7-0 margin.

The team’s matches on Thursday and Friday are both scheduled for 4 p.m.
