On Oct. 14, 2005, the Second Annual Matt Lopez Memorial Golf Tournament was held to raise funds to support the Matt Lopez Memorial Scholarship Fund. During the rush of dinner check in, a gentleman whom I believe may have been from the San Benito County Sheriff’s Department came and gave a cash donation to the fund. Unfortunately, I didn’t think to get the gentleman’s name, for which I am very sorry, because we would like to thank him properly.
Since that is not possible at this time, I would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude not only for the donation but also for time and effort he took to personally deliver it. Through the generosity of community members such as this man, the Lopez family has been able to award several scholarships to graduating seniors at San Benito High School.
