Christine Hwang

Artist Christine Hwang was born and raised in northern California and studied business economics at UCLA before switching her major to art history. She spends much of her time studying different art fields at a local community college.
Hwang said a lot of art she creates is based on her views of herself.
“It’s mostly self-reflection art,” she said. “One of them is about me being egotistical and big-headed. A simple concept, yes, thus a really big-headed wolf.”
She said she had a frustrating dream once where she was flying above the world and really wanted to land and explore it, but she was too large.
“We were made to live in a world, instead of being too big for it,” Hwang said. “Our egos should not be too big. And I always keep forgetting, so I hope others won’t mind me sharing it in hopes that if other people feel the same way, they would be encouraged.”
She hopes her art motivates others to stay grounded.
“I hope we all do not go into the mentality that ‘at least I’m better than that person,’ because we’re all in the same continual struggle, no matter what we’ve thought, said or done.”
