Editor,

There is a war on Christmas, and it has been going on for years. I have been complaining about it ever since retail stores started using the word X-mas – I started protesting when retailers stopped using the words Merry Christmas. Now it has gained national attention, which is good. A lot of people are protesting this year, and there will be a greater number next year.

Retailers are not the only ones wanting to ban the Christmas season. An absence of Christian symbols, Christmas decorations, music and greetings for this time of year proves to me and a great number of others that this war is here.

Editor,

I hope the new YMCA changes its policy, as some single parents can not afford to pay for their children to go now.

Some of these kids fall through the cracks. That’s one reason you have more gangs now. Unless the policy changes, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

We have large builders wanting to come into the county. Perhaps this would be a good place for them to start from the bottom up. Every child in San Benito County deserves the same break to join the YMCA. We don’t need segregation.
