Class 3: U9 Boys

Tigers 7, Santa Clara Lightning 0

The San Benito Youth Soccer League Tigers won their eighth game of the year against the Lightning from Santa Clara last weekend. With the 7-0 win, the Tigers remain undefeated.

James Estaban and Ricardo Sanchez scored two goals each in the win. Estaban scored on his own rebound at 17:10 in the second half.

He was able to maneuver around defenders to give himself an open shot to the goal. The shot was blocked, but he was able to put it to the back of the goal to give the Tigers a 7-0 lead. Brian Arrevalo, Noe Munez and Adam Macias also scored goals.

Class 3: Girls U8

Alpine Pumas 4, United 3

Deanna Rodrigues scored the first half goal for the Hollister team, and she also created various scoring opportunities on both halves of the field.

The other two goals were scored by Kylie Garcia, even though she was constantly marked by the best player on the other team. She usually had at least two players defending her, but she still found a way of scoring and putting pressure on the opposing goalkeeper.

Alexandria Reckas played goalkeeper the second half and helped the Hollister United stay in the game by making some incredible saves. She had the highlight of the game, making a jumping save on a shot that everyone thought was going to be over her head.

Rodriguez focused on playing the midfielder position in the second half to help secure the defense.

The Hollister United tied the game at three with seven minutes left in the game, but the Alpine Pumas scored the winning goal on a breakaway with two minutes left to play.

Class 3: U8 Boys

MH United 4, Tremors 2

The U8 Tremors were defeated by the Morgan Hill United last weekend. For Hollister, one goal was scored by Luis Fausto, and the other was scored by Brian Ocampo.

Class 3: U9 Girls

The SBYSL CyberRays (2-3-3) tied both games last weekend – 1-1 against the Almaden CyberRays and 0-0 against the Los Gatos Mountain Lions.

Stephanie Ego scored the only goal for the Cyberrays. Arezu Amirkiai and Karly Leon had several shots on goal. Kelly Gottron had many saves in goalie.

Class 3: U10 Boys

Tremors 2, Palo Alto 94 ‘B’ 0

Jordan Rubio scored a goal in the first half, and Martin Navarro scored in the second half.

Kenny Hastings, in the first half, and Rubio, in the second half, combined for the shutout.

Both victories this year for the Tremors have been by way of shutout.

Class 3: U11 Boys

Burlingame 2, Pumas 0

Burlingame was awarded a penalty kick. The Pumas’ goalie got down on the ball, but it was ruled to have crossed the line for the goal. Burlingame went on to score another goal after that. The Pumas had a goal called back for being offside.

They will finish up their season with home games June 5 and 6.

Class 3: U13 Boys

Sharks 4, DeAnza Tsunami 3

Last Saturday, the Sharks traveled to Cupertino and defeated the Tsunami, 4-3. Omar Bravo started the scoring with an early goal. The Tsunami answered with two goals of their own. Minutes before the end of the first half, Efrain Espinoza tied the game at 2-2 on a penalty kick. The Sharks opened the second half with two goals by Fernando Leon. Tight defense along with key saves by goalie Cristhian Maravilla gave the Sharks the victory.

Class 1: U15 Boys

The SBYSL Panthers (3-2-3) split their games over the weekend. Against the De Anza Earthquakes, the Panthers won 4-0.

Jose DeLeon scored two goals. Alex Prado and Ocsar Lostanau also scored goals. Gustavo Silva played solid on defense. John Wing and Eduardo Trujillo combined for the shutout in goalie.

Against the Almaden Hawks, the Panthers lost 3-2.

Drew Blake, after two years of not playing soccer, scored on a header, and Prado had a goal from 30 yards out.
