Babe Ruth League gets the fundamentals
Approximately 35 to 40 baseball players from the San Benito Babe Ruth League, ranging from 12 to 17 years old, came out to Veterans Memorial Park last Saturday for a baseball clinic put on by Daniel Barone and Michael Luna.
Barone, a Hollister pitcher who made his MLB debut in 2007 with the Florida Marlins, and Luna, the manager of the San Benito High Haybalers, taught the fundamental skills of the game, going over everything from base running to hitting to pitching to fielding.
“It was good for the kids,” league president Stephen Ferranti said.
On tap for the Babe Ruth League, Ferranti said the Spring League will open on Feb. 28.
